Hi guys! Thanks for hopping on the blog today. It’s been awhile since we have talked about anything beauty! One question, I tend to get asked quite often is, “how do you do your eye makeup?” I thought I would give you my top three tips to achieving a flawless eye look for day or evening.
Tip 1 – Good Brushes
Starting with the right brushes is crucial when it comes to applying color and blending. My absolute favorite blending brush is this one from Laura Mercier. This brush makes blending very easy as you apply color and also for blending the outside edges.
For applying deeper colors that go into the crease, I love this brush from Sephora. This one is really great for the crease area which can sometimes be hard, finding the right spot to apply the color. The shape of the brush sits perfectly in the crease and blends the edges at the same time. Win, win!
For adding color to the upper and lower lase line, I use this brush from MAC Cosmetics. I especially like this for adding color to my lower lash line. After doing so, I then blend with a smaller brush to soft the color.
Tip 2 – Locate your eye socket bone
This sounds strange I know. . . but is crucial for determining where to apply darker/deeper shades. If you push softly on your lid, you will be able to locate it pretty easily. Right underneath that bone, is where you want to focus the darker shades for adding depth to the crease. This is what gives you the smoky eye look. The trick to getting it right, is keeping the color more towards the outer half of this area.
Tip 3 – Blend, blend, blend . . .
After you have applied the darker shades to the crease, it’s super important to blend out the outer edges. I can’t stress this enough. The more time you spend on this step, the better the end result which also makes a huge difference in terms of getting soft, clean edges.
I hope these tips help you think through your makeup routine! Before I go, I also wanted to include one of my new favorite eyeliners by Charlotte Tilbury. It’s called The Classic Eye Powder Eyeliner Pencil. What makes this one unique is the soft powder like finish. It goes on just like your standard eyeliner but I find it’s gentler on the skin during application and also blends out really well as it gives a softer feel. For those that are curious what eye shadows I’m wearing, I LOVE this palette (dusky rose times nine) from MAC Cosmetics. Everything you need for both daytime and nighttime looks.
