Fall At The Farm: Home, Style And Slowing Down

October 28, 2025

Fall has fully arrived at the farm, the air is crisp, the porch is full of pumpkins and inside, new projects are wrapping up just in time for the coziest months of the year. From the color trend I’m loving most (hello, chocolate brown!) to what this season is teaching me about slowing down, here’s a little peek at fall around here.

The “It” Color of the Season: Chocolate Brown

Move over camel, this fall’s cozy neutral is chocolate brown. It’s rich, timeless and just bold enough to feel new again. Whether you love dressing up or staying comfy at home, it’s the perfect color to mix into your fall wardrobe; I’m especially loving it for fall at the farm vibes.

Here are three easy ways to wear it this season:

  1. Booties – Swap your go-to black or tan pair for a deep brown suede or leather. It instantly grounds an outfit and pairs beautifully with denim, cream knits or even a fall floral dress.
  2. Jacket – A chocolate brown trench or quilted jacket brings a modern, elevated touch to your everyday look. Think classic.
  3. Lounge Set – The ultimate cozy-at-home look. Chocolate brown in a soft knit or ribbed fabric feels elevated while still being effortless. Make it part of your fall uniform – I definitely am!

Around the Farm: Home Updates

Inside our 1910 farmhouse, things are bustling as we wrap up a three-room renovation with 13th Avenue Interiors: the dining room, parlor room and back living room. Each space tells a little piece of our style story and reflects how we actually live here day-to-day. A full walk-through of all three rooms will be coming toward the end of the year, and I can’t wait to share the transformation!

Front Porch Style

Outside, our front porch has officially turned into a fall haven. Layers of mums in every shade of gold and rust, stacks of pumpkins and a mix of gourds, some of which came straight from our own garden this year! It’s simple but full of texture and life and it sets the perfect tone as we transition into Thanksgiving.

When it comes to decorating for fall, my tip is to layer, not match. Mix sizes, colors, and shapes and let it feel organic and collected, just like the season itself.

Lessons of Fall

Every season has something to teach and I keep coming back to three reminders of fall at the farm:
slow down, reflect and enjoy the journey.

Here’s how I’ve been trying my best to incorporate them:

  • Slow mornings. I’ve been getting up a little earlier to enjoy quiet time with myself (and my cappuccino) before the day begins. It’s become one of my favorite parts of the day!
  • Embracing the quirks. Our 1910 farmhouse has plenty of them, creaky floors, uneven walls, odd corners but instead of trying to “fix” every imperfection, I’m learning to see them as part of its charm and story.
  • Taking things in stride. When setbacks come up (because they always do), I’ve been trying to take a page from one of my close friends – pause, laugh when you can and remember most things are fixable.

As we move deeper into the season, I’m finding myself more grateful for the little things: the color of the leaves outside our kitchen window, watching our chickens in the morning, the cozy feeling of a simple sweater and the quiet contentment that comes with just being here.

Here’s to a season of slowing down, soaking it in and finding beauty in the perfectly imperfect.
