Maxi Dress Styling For Fall

August 7, 2023

Summer is going to be gone before you know it! I can’t believe how fast it goes each and every year.

I’m soaking up the last days of summer with one of my favorite photographers and friend, Wendy from Willow & Wren Photography. If you are looking to schedule family photos, and need a photographer, you can get in contact with her here. She is amazing and so talented.

With fall around the corner, I wanted to show you a few different ways you can style your favorite summer maxi dresses for the fall.

Before we get started, I wanted to share this affordable Amazon Maxi Dress! It would be perfect if you have September fall family photos, and you can easily layer it with my style tips below. It’s so comfortable, has great tummy control at the waist and the length is great if you are petite to average height. For reference, I’m 5’3 wearing a size small, and Wendy is 5’0 wearing a size medium.

Let’s dive into my top three style tips for taking your favorite summer maxi dresses into the fall!

Tip 1 – Layer With a Cropped or Long Cardigan

The easiest way to style a dress for the fall is to grab a long or cropped cardigan, preferrably a chunky knit or cozy cashmere. Not only does it keep you warm, it also allows you to use something you likely already have in your wardrobe.

Tip 2 – Pair With a Western Style Boot

The western boot trend is ALL the rage this fall, so I recommend grabbing your favorite style to pair with your maxi dress. This instantly gives fall vibes and also changes the look and feel of your outfit.

Tip 3 – Layer With a Jean or Moto Jacket

Another way to layer your maxi dress for the fall, is to pair it with a jean jacket or moto inspired jacket. I love this look, and it’s what I gravitate towards the most. It adds a casual feel to an otherwise dressy look!

There you have it! Let us know the comments which tip was the most helpful.
