Hi friends! I can’t believe the time is flying by – how is it that we are already in November? I was reflecting on all the lovely families I had a chance to meet this fall for Sumac Minis with Julie from Olly View Photography. What a great time it was and it got me thinking about what’s to come – Tree Farm Minis!
Many photographers are gearing up for Tree Farm Minis and with that, I wanted to pass along some family outfit inspiration. I’ve rounded up three of my favorite looks. Here in Minnesota the weather gets cold and and while dresses are beautiful, they aren’t always the most practical. So, I’ve included a few elevated looks with jeans and one option with a beautiful holiday dress from Ivy City Co.
AND – I’ve also included three style tips to consider if you are planning Tree Farm Minis this year!
Style Tips
1 – Dress for the elements. Make sure everyone is wearing something nice but comfortable!
2 – Start with mom’s outfit first. This is where many go wrong. We think of trying to style everyone else first and leave ourselves last, which leads to trying to find the “perfect” matching piece to go with everyone else’s look. Starting with you means, you’ll be able to coordinate around what you love and it makes all the difference.
3 – Think about your shoes. Being outside requires additional thought about your shoes. For moms, I recommend a block heel or booties. It makes walking a whole lot easier – leave the really tall stiletto’s at home. For kids, stick with shoes that are comfortable and also easy to walk in. Consider what brand of shoes they love if you are buying them a new pair. It’s never fun the day of the shoot when they tell you their feet hurt and refuse to wear what you bought.
