Hi friends. Thank you for hopping on the blog today. Glad you are here. I asked you on my Instagram stories what you would like to see next and here it is! As a mom to a busy five year old, I’m always looking for ways to save time and effort. One of those areas for me has become streamlining my makeup routine. More specifically, I’m looking for a flawless face without having to use a ton of products. If your base makeup looks great everything else falls into place. So, I wanted to share how I apply concealer and the hacks I do everyday to cut my time down.
Step 1 – Choose Two Concealers
Fun fact – I hardly wear foundation! One of my favorite hacks is to find a concealer that can double as your foundation. When I’m shopping for a concealer, I’m looking for one that has medium buildable coverage and a creamy texture. I stay away from anything in the matte category as I feel it tends to be dry on my skin and leaves a cakey texture.
With that said, I really love this concealer! The Power Play Concealer by Cover FX, is a crease proof, 16 hour coverage concealer, that corrects, perfects and brightens skin. I love the weightless, multi-use formula as I buy two colors – yes two colors! The first one matches my skin to correct areas I want to hide and the second one is a lighter shade to highlight under my eyes and around my face. I also enjoy using these when I travel as it’s easy to throw in your makeup bag. Another thing I appreciate is that you get a lot of product in one tube.
Step 2 – How to Apply
In terms of applying concealer, I start with the shade that matches my skin tone and spot correct around my face in areas that need it. After that, I take the lighter shade and place under my eyes staying closer to the center of my face. The next thing I do is add the lighter shade to my forehead, chin and spots I want to add more brightness. At the end, I make sure to use my beauty sponge to blend everything out in patting motions, not dragging motions.

Step 3 – Setting the Base
The last step, is to set the concealer. I have always preferred powder in a compact so I can throw it in my purse and take on trips without worrying about a mess. I’m also VERY picky about the type of powder I use because a lot of them tend to be drying or feel too heavy on the skin. I look for ones that are finely milled, have a bit of coverage but feel really light weight on the skin. This one from Charlotte Tilbury is my all time favorite as it checks every box!
It’s always good to try new things, so whether you are looking for a new concealer, or running out of what you are currently using feel free to give Cover FX Power Play Concealer a try. You won’t be disappointed! It’s my go to for saving time in my everyday routine and I hope it does the same for you.
Let me know in the comments your favorite concealer or which ones rank at the top of your list – I would love to know!
